Chocolate Spritz cookies are crisp, buttery treats with a rich chocolate flavor, perfect for cookie exchanges, holidays, or anytime a delightful, elegant snack is desired.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. flavoring (vanilla or almond)
  • 2 1/4 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix butter and unsweetened chocolate in a bowl and melt in the microwave for 1 minute or until blended.
  3. Add sugar, salt, and flavoring, and mix well.
  4. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
  5. Work in the flour until the dough is smooth.
  6. Using 1/4 of the dough at a time, force through a cookie press onto an ungreased cookie sheet in desired shapes.
  7. Bake for 6 to 9 minutes or until set but not brown.
