- Preheat the oven and prepare an 8 or 9-inch spring-form pan.
- In a bowl, grind the walnuts into fine crumbs.
- Melt the semi-sweet chocolate and set aside to cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until thick and pale.
- Stir in the melted chocolate, ground walnuts, flour, butter, and rum or brandy until well combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared spring-form pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the torte to cool before removing from the pan and serving.
