Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 quart milk (evaporated milk plus regular milk to total 1 quart)
  • 1 cup sugar (brown, white, or half and half)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • raisins (optional)
  • cinnamon
  • 4 to 5 slices bread

Instructions

  1. Blend eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and salt in a blender until well combined.
  2. Butter or margarine 4 to 5 slices of bread.
  3. Break or cut the bread into small pieces.
  4. Place the bread pieces, milk mixture, and raisins (if using) into a bowl.
  5. Sprinkle cinnamon on top.
  6. Bake in a pan of water at 400°F for about 1 hour until a knife inserted comes out clean.
