Ingredients

  • 1 beef chuck steak (1 1/2 to 2 lb.)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 can (14 oz.) peeled Italian tomatoes, drained and chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. fresh oregano or 1 tsp. dried oregano
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Trim fat from the beef chuck steak.
  3. Place the steak in a shallow glass baking dish with space around it.
  4. In a bowl, mix chopped Italian tomatoes, chopped onion, chopped garlic, oregano, salt, and olive oil.
  5. Spread the tomato mixture over the steak.
  6. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until the steak is tender.
  7. Slice the steak at an angle and serve with the tomato sauce from the pan.
  8. Goes well with roasted potatoes.
