  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. milk
  • 2 Tbsp. melted shortening
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. melted butter
  • 1/2 c. sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Sift together flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Blend milk, melted shortening, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients until just blended.
  4. Pour batter into a greased 11 x 17-inch baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Drizzle 1/2 cup melted butter over the hot cake.
