Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup Crisco
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cans fruit filling

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, Crisco, sugar, salt, and baking soda together.
  2. Work the mixture like pie dough until crumbly.
  3. Beat eggs and vanilla together, then add to the dough mixture.
  4. If the dough is stiff, add up to 2 tablespoons of milk to loosen.
  5. Divide the dough in half and press one half into a 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
  6. Spread the fruit filling evenly over the bottom crust.
  7. Flatten the remaining dough pieces and place on top of the fruit filling.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35 to 45 minutes until golden brown.
