Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter, softened
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Cream the softened butter until smooth and creamy.
  2. Add the sugar gradually, beating until light, fluffy, and the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  6. Stir in the lemon juice and vanilla extract to incorporate the flavors.
  7. Pour the batter evenly into three prepared cake pans and bake as desired.
