- Scald 1 cup milk; let cool to lukewarm and add yeast, eggs, and sugar.
- Beat with an eggbeater until well combined.
- Mix flour, 3 teaspoons sugar, oleo, and nutmeg or lemon zest like pie crust dough.
- Add the first mixture to the flour mixture. For Christmas, add 1 cup of candied fruit and mix well.
- Cover the dough and refrigerate overnight.
- When ready to bake, divide dough into 2 or 3 parts and roll each about 1/2-inch thick.
- Brush the surface of each rolled dough with melted butter; sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, raisins, and chopped nuts.
- Roll each piece into a jelly roll shape.
- Let the rolled doughs set in a warm place for about 1/2 hour.
- Bake at 350°F for 30 to 35 minutes.
- Frost the top with powdered sugar frosting and sprinkle with chopped nuts.
