Ingredients

  • 3 sticks and 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 tsp. lemon flavoring

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add flour and baking powder alternately with milk.
  3. End with milk.
  4. Add eggs, one at a time.
  5. Stir in lemon flavoring.
  6. Place the batter in a cold oven.
  7. Set oven to 350°F and bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
  8. Do not open the oven during baking until it is completed.
