Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 4 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Sift the flour, sugar, cream of tartar, baking powder, and salt together into a bowl.
  2. Cut the shortening into the flour mixture until crumbly.
