Ingredients

  • 4 lb. brisket, trimmed and tenderized
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1/2 cup catsup
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 cup chili sauce
  • 12 oz. can beer
  • Bavarian paprika, salt, and pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Pour all ingredients over the brisket in a large enameled roaster.
  2. Cover the pan with foil and bake at 300°F for 4 hours.
  3. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 35 to 40 minutes.
  4. Baste the meat with the sauce during cooking.
  5. Remove the meat from the sauce and cook the drippings until thickened.
  6. Slice the meat thinly on the grain for sandwiches.
  7. Return the sliced meat to the sauce and bake for an additional 30 minutes at 350°F.
  8. Watch to prevent the sauce from burning.
  9. Serve the brisket on buns.
