Cooked Custard Eggnog
Creamy cooked custard eggnog combines rich flavors of eggs, milk, and nutmeg, topped with whipped cream. Perfect for festive gatherings and holiday celebrations.

- Heat milk in a large saucepan over medium-low heat, do not boil.
- Beat eggs and salt in a large bowl; gradually add sugar, mixing well.
- Gradually stir about 1/4 of hot milk into the egg mixture; then add the remaining hot milk, stirring constantly.
- Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and reaches 160°F.
- Stir in 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg and vanilla.
- Set the saucepan in a larger pan of ice for 10 minutes to rapidly cool the mixture.
- Cover and refrigerate for up to 48 hours before serving.
- Just before serving, fold in whipped cream and add ground nutmeg and rum extract to taste.
