Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons almond extract
  • Red food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Cream shortening and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add egg and almond extract; mix well.
  4. In a separate bowl, blend dry ingredients: flour, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, mixing thoroughly.
  6. Divide dough into three equal parts; color one part red, one part green, leave the third white.
  7. Fill cookie press with dough and press out cookies onto ungreased baking sheets.
