Cookie Turnovers
Sweet and flaky cookie turnovers filled with fruit filling, perfect for a delightful snack or dessert. Suitable for all ages and ideal for sharing at gatherings.

Instructions
- Mix 1 cup sugar, the shortening, eggs, and vanilla.
- Stir in flour, salt, and baking soda.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Prepare filling.
- Heat oven to 400°F.
- Roll dough 1/16 inch thick on a lightly floured cloth-covered board.
- Cut into 3-inch rounds or squares.
- Spoon about 1 teaspoon filling onto half of each circle.
- Fold dough over filling; pinch edges to seal.
- Place about 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Brush with milk; sprinkle with sugar.
- Bake until very light brown, 8 to 10 minutes.
- Immediately remove from cookie sheet.
