- In a large steam pot with 2 inches of water, break the corn cobs in half and stack them upright in the bottom of the pan.
- Quarter the new potatoes and layer them over the corn.
- Quarter the onions and layer them over the potatoes.
- Cut carrots into sticks or slices and layer over the onions.
- Slice smoked sausage into discs and layer over the carrots.
- Cover the pot with a lid and bring the water to a rolling boil.
