Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups corn
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Warm the corn, milk, and butter until scalding. Separate egg whites and beat until stiff.
  2. Add vanilla and salt to the egg whites and set aside.
  3. Beat egg yolks and add to the warm milk mixture with sugar and cornstarch, stirring frequently.
  4. Gently fold in the whipped egg whites into the corn mixture.
  5. Pour the mixture into a buttered 2-quart casserole dish.
  6. Bake for 1 hour at 325°F until set and lightly golden.
