Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 slices bread, diced
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Put sugar on the bottom of a double boiler insert.
  2. Add the diced bread to the insert.
  3. Mix eggs, milk, and vanilla together.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread.
  5. Place the insert over hot water in the double boiler.
  6. Cook until set, about 1 to 1.5 hours.
  7. Remove the insert and let the pudding cool.
  8. When cool, invert the pudding onto a plate and serve warm or cold.
