Crab Apple Sauce

A sweet and tangy apple sauce made from tart crab apples, infused with cinnamon, perfect as a dessert topping or accompaniment for pork and poultry dishes.

Ingredients

  • 1 quart crab apples
  • 1/2 cup water
  • sugar
  • cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Stem the crab apples and rinse them in lukewarm water.
  2. Drain the apples and place them in a saucepan with 1/2 cup of water.
  3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer and cook until the fruit is soft.
  4. While still warm, pass the cooked apples through a sieve to remove seeds and stems.
  5. Add sugar and cinnamon to taste, then stir to combine.
