Ingredients

  • 3 cups peeled, chopped apples
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 packages (1 5/8 oz.) instant oatmeal with cinnamon and spice
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • pecan halves

Instructions

  1. Combine the peeled, chopped apples, cranberries, and 2 tablespoons of flour in a bowl, tossing to coat the fruit evenly.
  2. Add 1 cup of sugar to the fruit mixture and mix well.
  3. Pour the fruit mixture into a 2-quart casserole dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the instant oatmeal, chopped pecans, 1/2 cup of flour, and brown sugar.
  5. Add the melted butter to the oatmeal mixture and stir well until combined.
  6. Spoon the oatmeal topping evenly over the fruit in the casserole dish.
  7. Bake uncovered at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
  8. Garnish with pecan halves and cranberries before serving.
