Ingredients

  • 1 qt. cranberry juice
  • 2 c. water
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 12 cloves
  • lemon peel strips from 1/2 lemon
  • 2 qt. dry red wine
  • 1/2 c. lemon juice
  • 1/2 pt. brandy
  • nutmeg (to garnish)
  • orange slices (to garnish)

Instructions

  1. Combine cranberry juice, water, sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and lemon peel strips in a large pot.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
  3. Add the red wine, lemon juice, and brandy to the simmered mixture, stirring well.
  4. Serve hot, garnished with nutmeg and orange slices.
