Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Mix shortening, egg, water, and sugar until well combined.
  2. Add flour, baking powder, and salt to the mixture and stir until smooth.
  3. Pour half of the batter into a pie pan to form the crust.
  4. Add your desired filling over the crust.
  5. Pour the remaining batter on top of the filling.
  6. Bake in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 1 hour or until a knife inserted in the crust comes out clean.
