Cream puffs feature a light, airy pastry shell filled with creamy vanilla pudding and topped with whipped cream, perfect for elegant desserts or special gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup butter or oleo
  • 1 cup flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 small boxes instant vanilla pudding
  • 4 cups milk
  • 8 oz. cream cheese

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, add the water and butter.
  2. Bring to a boil and gradually add the flour.
  3. Stir until smooth and paste-like on low heat.
  4. Remove from stove and let cool for 20 minutes.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, beating with a wooden spoon after each addition.
  6. Spread the batter in a greased 9 x 13-inch dish.
  7. Bake in a 400°F oven for 35 minutes.
  8. Remove from oven and press out air bubbles with a paper towel wrapped around your hand.
  9. Mix milk, instant vanilla pudding, and softened cream cheese until very thick.
  10. Spread the pudding mixture over the cooled pastry crust.
  11. Top with Cool Whip and refrigerate before serving.
