Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 c. lukewarm water
  • 2/3 c. white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. oleo
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 c. flour

Instructions

  1. Put yeast in warm water and set aside.
  2. Scald milk, then add oleo in hot milk to melt, then cool.
  3. Combine cooled milk mixture with well-beaten eggs, vanilla, and sugar.
  4. Add flour gradually to form a dough.
  5. Put the dough in a warm place until it doubles in size.
  6. Roll out the dough and cut into pieces about 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches long.
  7. Let the cut pieces rise again until puffy.
  8. Fry in deep vegetable oil until golden brown.
  9. Cut the top of each stick open and fill with desired filling.
  10. Ice with brown sugar frosting.
