Ingredients

  • 1 small head cabbage
  • 6 Tbsp. butter
  • 4 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Chop the cabbage and boil in salted water until tender.
  2. Drain the cabbage well.
  3. Melt 6 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan.
  4. Add flour to the melted butter, stir well, then gradually add milk, stirring constantly.
  5. Cook the mixture until the sauce thickens.
  6. Layer the cooked cabbage in a baking dish and pour some of the sauce over it.
  7. Repeat the layering process with remaining cabbage and sauce.
  8. Mix 4 tablespoons of butter with bread crumbs and sprinkle evenly over the top.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
