Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • buttered crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup pecan halves

Instructions

  1. Cut celery into 1/2-inch diagonal pieces.
  2. Cover celery with water and boil until tender, about 15 minutes; drain.
  3. Melt butter in a saucepan; stir in flour.
  4. Gradually add milk, stirring until the mixture comes to a boil and thickens.
  5. Stir in salt and cooked celery.
  6. Spoon the mixture into a greased 1 1/2-quart casserole.
  7. Top with pecan halves and buttered crumbs.
  8. Bake at 400°F for 15 minutes.
