Creamy Cooked Icing

Ingredients

  • 5 Tbsp. flour (heaping)
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Cook flour and milk until thick, then let cool. (Stir with whisk while cooking to get lumps out.)
  2. Beat butter for 4 minutes. Add sugar and beat again.
  3. Add cooled mixture and vanilla.
  4. Beat 4 minutes again.
  5. This icing stays soft.
