Ingredients

  • 10 slices raisin bread
  • 3 cups milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter or margarine
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Butter a 2-quart glass casserole dish.
  3. Combine torn raisin bread and milk in a large bowl and let soak.
  4. In a medium bowl, beat eggs slightly.
  5. Stir in sugar, melted butter, vanilla, and salt into the eggs.
  6. Add the egg mixture to the bread mixture and stir to combine.
  7. Pour the mixture into the prepared dish.
  8. Sprinkle with cinnamon on top.
  9. Bake for 45 minutes or until a knife inserted comes out clean.
  10. Serve warm with brandy sauce.
