- Scrub the potato and cut it in half lengthwise.
- Make diagonal slashes about 1/8-inch deep in the cut surface of the potato, forming a crisscross pattern.
- Brush the cut surface with melted butter and season with salt or seasoned salt.
- Place the potato in a small shallow pan or on a piece of foil.
- Bake in a hot oven at 400°F (200°C) for 40 minutes.
- Sprinkle the potato with paprika if desired.
- Bake for an additional 10 minutes or until done.
