- In a saucepan, bring water and beans to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 1 1/2 hours.
- Remove from heat and pour into a bowl; cover and chill.
- Drain beans; reserve 1 cup of liquid.
- Transfer beans and reserved liquid into a crock-pot.
- Stir in bacon, onion, molasses, brown sugar, and mustard.
- Cover and cook on low heat for 12 to 14 hours.
