Ingredients

  • 8 cups water
  • 1 pound dry navy beans
  • 4 ounces bacon
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, bring water and beans to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 1 1/2 hours.
  2. Remove from heat and pour into a bowl; cover and chill.
  3. Drain beans; reserve 1 cup of liquid.
  4. Transfer beans and reserved liquid into a crock-pot.
  5. Stir in bacon, onion, molasses, brown sugar, and mustard.
  6. Cover and cook on low heat for 12 to 14 hours.
