Ingredients

  • 2 oz. margarine
  • 3 oz. caster sugar
  • few drops vanilla essence
  • 1 tsp. golden syrup
  • 2 oz. shortening
  • 3 oz. oats
  • 4 oz. Bisquick or all purpose flour
  • 3 tsp. hot water

Instructions

  1. Cream margarine and caster sugar together; add vanilla essence, golden syrup, and hot water, then mix with oats and flour to form a stiff dough.
  2. Roll the dough into small balls and space them out on a greased baking tray.
  3. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) or gas mark 4 for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
