- Bring 1 inch of water to a boil in a frying pan.
- Add green beans, cover, and reduce heat. Cook for 8 minutes.
- Drain the green beans and transfer to ice water for 5 minutes.
- Drain the green beans again.
- Sauté onion and garlic in vegetable oil until tender, stirring constantly.
- Add the drained green beans back to the pan and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Add 2 tablespoons water, sugar, and salt to the pan.
- Cook for an additional 2 minutes and serve.
