Ingredients

  • 1/2 bushel tomatoes
  • 6 onions
  • 8 cups sugar
  • 5 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3/4 pint vinegar
  • Clear Jell

Instructions

  1. Cook tomatoes and onions and then put them through a strainer to make juice.
  2. Cook the tomato and onion juice and add sugar, salt, cloves, dry mustard, and cinnamon, excluding the Clear Jell.
  3. Continue cooking for about an hour until the mixture thickens.
  4. Finish by thickening with a mixture of Clear Jell and water to reach the desired consistency.
  5. Pour the ketchup into jars and seal.
