Ingredients

  • 4 cups milk
  • 8 slices bread
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Heat milk until just under boiling.
  2. Add sugar and salt to the milk and set aside to cool.
  3. Beat eggs slightly and add vanilla.
  4. Cut bread into cubes and spread in a buttered 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
  5. Mix the cooled milk with the egg mixture.
  6. Pour the milk and egg mixture over the bread.
  7. Sprinkle cinnamon and raisins over the top.
  8. Place the baking dish in a larger pan with 1/2-inch of water in it.
  9. Bake at 350°F for 50 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
