- Heat milk until just under boiling.
- Add sugar and salt to the milk and set aside to cool.
- Beat eggs slightly and add vanilla.
- Cut bread into cubes and spread in a buttered 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
- Mix the cooled milk with the egg mixture.
- Pour the milk and egg mixture over the bread.
- Sprinkle cinnamon and raisins over the top.
- Place the baking dish in a larger pan with 1/2-inch of water in it.
- Bake at 350°F for 50 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
