Ingredients

  • 1 package yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup water lukewarm
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 3 cups whole wheat flour

Instructions

  1. Soak yeast and sugar in lukewarm water for 15 minutes.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and 2 cups of white flour to the yeast mixture.
  3. Beat the mixture with a mixer for 5 to 10 minutes.
  4. Stir in the rest of the flour until the dough is not too stiff.
  5. Knead the dough thoroughly.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it.
  7. Let the dough rise until doubled in bulk.
  8. Punch down the dough.
  9. Let the dough rise again.
  10. Shape the dough into loaves.
  11. Let the loaves rise and bake at 375°F until done, about 45 minutes.
