Date Nuts Bars

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 pkg. dates, cut up
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar.
  2. Add egg yolks, beaten separately. Add dates, nuts, flour, baking powder and salt.
  3. Mix well.
  4. Fold egg whites (stiffly beaten) in last.
  5. Spread thin into 9 x 1-inch pan.
  6. Bake in 350° oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
  7. Cut in strips while warm and roll in powdered sugar.
