David'S Corn Bread

Instructions
- Wash the figs in lukewarm water.
- Discard water.
- Leave the skins on the fruit and a short portion of the stem so the juices remain inside the fig.
- (This procedure also helps figs retain their shape throughout cooking.)
- Place the figs inside a large bowl or pot filled with the sugar.
- Let stand for at least 24 hours.
- (Figs make their own juices, somewhat like strawberries.)
