Deep South Pie

Instructions
- Cook rice until very soft, then drain and mash with a fork.
- Melt butter in a large saucepan.
- Stir in molasses, sugar, eggs, salt, vanilla, and mashed rice; mix well.
- Pour the mixture into an unbaked 9-inch pie shell.
- Sprinkle pecans evenly over the top of the filling.
- Bake in a moderate oven at 375°F for 50 minutes.
- Allow the pie to cool before serving.
