Ingredients

  • 2 c. lt. brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 c. shortening (oleo)
  • 2 lg. eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2/3 c. chopped nuts
  • 3/4 c. chocolate bits
  • salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt oleo, add sugar - beat eggs, adding one at a time.
  2. Then add vanilla.
  3. Last add flour, baking powder - nuts.
  4. Spread into 9 x 12-inch pan.
  5. Sprinkle bits over top. Put into 350° oven for five minutes.
  6. Take out and using a knife swirl the melted bits all through the batter. Return to oven and let bake 25 more minutes.
