Instructions
- Cream butter with sugar; add egg.
- Beat well.
- Stir in flour mixture alternately with buttermilk.
- Add nuts and fruit.
- Pour into a 3-quart Pyrex bowl and steam, uncovered, in a heavy kettle with tight fitting lid for 1 1/2 hours.
- No peeking!
- Be sure water is at least 2 inches up sides of bowl.
- Serve with Vanilla Sauce.
