Ingredients

  • 1 pint milk
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 1 package yeast
  • 5 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  1. Scald and cool 1 pint of milk.
  2. Cream the Crisco and add 1/2 cup sugar.
  3. Dissolve 1 package of yeast in a little warm water and add to the milk mixture.
  4. Add 2 1/2 cups of sifted flour and let the mixture rise for about 2 hours.
