Ingredients

  • 1/2 large yeast cake
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt

Instructions

  1. Melt the yeast in 2 cups of warm water.
  2. Add the flour and mix well with a wooden spoon.
  3. Cover and let set for 30 minutes.
  4. Add salt and let the batter set until it doubles in bulk.
  5. The batter will be soft and sticky.
  6. Drop the batter by tablespoonfuls into hot fat at 350°F.
  7. Brown on all sides.
  8. Drain on paper towels.
  9. Dust with 10x sugar.
