Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup soft shortening
  • 1/3 cup soft margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

Instructions

  1. Cream together the soft shortening, soft margarine, and sugar in a large mixing bowl until fluffy.
  2. Beat in the eggs thoroughly.
  3. Stir in the self-rising flour alternately with the milk and vanilla, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Pour the batter evenly into two greased 9-inch pans.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool the cakes completely before serving.
  7. Serve with Pineapple Filling and Double Boiler Frosting.
