- Dissolve the dry yeast in warm water.
- Melt the butter.
- Mix the melted butter with cold milk and add to the yeast mixture.
- Stir in salt and gradually add the flour, mixing to form a dough.
- Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for 30 minutes.
- Knead the dough until smooth.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal portions.
- Shape each portion into an oblong roll about 5 inches long.
- Place an egg slightly above the center of each roll.
- Cut slits at 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 o'clock positions on the roll.
- Pull the dough at each slit to shape arms and legs.
- Arrange the arms over and across the egg to resemble a figure.
- Place the shaped rolls on greased cookie sheets and cover with a kitchen towel.
- Let the rolls rise until doubled in size.
- Bake at 350° to 375° Fahrenheit until lightly browned and the eggs are cooked through.
