Ingredients

  • coconut
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 stick soft oleo (butter or margarine)
  • 1 pound powdered sugar
  • 1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened

Instructions

  1. Cover a 9 x 13 x 3-inch cake pan with coconut.
  2. Sprinkle chopped nuts over the coconut layer.
  3. Prepare the German chocolate cake mix according to box directions; spread it over the nuts and coconut, but do not mix together.
  4. Blend until smooth the softened cream cheese, butter (oleo), and powdered sugar.
  5. Carefully spread the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour.
  7. The dessert will rise, fall, and develop craters like an earthquake.
