Ingredients

  • 10 to 12 apples, peeled and sliced medium thick
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Place peeled and sliced apples in a greased 7 x 11 x 1 1/2-inch pan, filling it half to three-quarters full.
  2. Sprinkle two tablespoons of water over the apples.
  3. In a separate bowl, blend butter, light brown sugar, and all-purpose flour until crumbly.
  4. Scatter the crumb mixture evenly over the apples and pat down gently.
  5. Bake at 375°F for 45 to 55 minutes until the topping is golden and apples are tender.
  6. Serve plain or with whipped cream, milk, or ice cream.
  7. Can be enjoyed cold.
