Malasadas are fluffy, sweet Hawaiian doughnuts with a golden exterior, rolled in sugar. Perfect for brunch or special treats, appealing to all ages with their warm, sugary goodness.

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon extract
  • 2 cups Bisquick
  • 4 slices bread
  • 1 quart oil
  • sugar

Instructions

  1. Combine egg, milk, and lemon extract in a bowl.
  2. Add 2 cups Bisquick to the mixture and stir until smooth to form batter.
  3. Cut each of the 4 slices of bread into 9 small square pieces.
  4. Drop bread pieces into the batter to coat.
  5. Deep fry the coated bread pieces in oil for about 2 minutes until golden brown.
  6. While still hot, roll the malasadas in sugar.
