Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons oil
  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 packages yeast

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the yeast in a cup of warm water; set aside.
  2. Scald the milk with sugar, salt, and oil.
  3. Let the milk mixture cool.
  4. Mix the yeast mixture with the cooled milk mixture.
  5. Stir in the flour until well mixed.
  6. Cover the dough and let it rise until doubled in volume, about 45 minutes.
  7. After rising, stir the dough for half a minute.
  8. Place the dough in a greased 1 1/2-quart casserole.
  9. Cover and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  10. Bake at 400°F for 25 to 30 minutes. Brush with oleo.
