Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 c. lukewarm water
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 tsp. shortening
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.
  2. Add salt, sugar, water, shortening, and egg to the yeast mixture and mix well.
  3. Stir in flour gradually, 1/2 cup at a time, until the dough is smooth.
  4. Break off pieces of dough the size of an egg.
  5. Roll out each piece to 1/4 inch thickness on a floured surface.
  6. Deep-fry the rolled dough in shortening until golden brown and crisp.
  7. Remove from oil and dust with sugar and cinnamon before serving.
