Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 sticks butter
  • 1 c. walnuts
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 6 egg yolks

Instructions

  1. Boil sugar, water, and salt together until syrup reaches 235° on a candy thermometer.
  2. Add butter and boil until bubbles are yellow. Cool to room temperature.
  3. Add vanilla and eggs; beat well.
  4. Place walnuts in the bottom of a 9-inch unbaked pie shell.
  5. Pour the mixture over the walnuts.
  6. Bake at 325° for 55 minutes.
