Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 2/3 c. milk

Instructions

  1. Stir together flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder.
  2. Cut in shortening using a pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add milk and stir until the mixture forms a ball.
  4. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently about 10 times.
  5. Roll out to 1/2-inch thick and cut into rounds.
  6. Place on a baking sheet and bake at 450°F for 10 to 15 minutes.
